The Stan - Optac 30-06-2012

So a few of us headed down to Sheffield to play at the Stan on Sunday. Unfortunately there was only around 20 players in total and for the size of this site it was a shame that more didn't turn up, but we put that behind us and got on with it.

The site consists of the old Stanley factory, where they made Stanley knives and other products. An office block and a 6 story building which I assume was a warehouse. The place could do with a little TLC to clear up some broken glass and patch a few hole in roofs to stop leaks.

We play a variety of games. I particularly enjoyed the last main game in which we had a poker chip 'drugs' and the aim was to collect as many as possible; when you killed a player, you asked them for their chips. There were 3 teams, 2 trying to collect the chips and 5 police officers who would wander round with a case of gold. They would be on the look out for anyone pointing a gun at someone or taking chips, and of course any shooting. Right off the bat we encountered a lone officer... Let the fun begin! We crowed round him asking questions and being a general pain in the arse. Then one brave lad knife killed the officer - let me add, if you killed a police officer, they would then hunt you down for the rest of the game.
Nevertheless Merlin of PTG. Ended up with 4 gold bars and the rest of the team obtained 2 cases which won us the game. It was a good day and I would go back again.

Only bad points would be the dangers of glass everywhere and one of the office floors being flooded. They did have refreshments and snacks for sale and a few AEGs and pistols and a bit of gear.

Friendly marshalls and some excellent gameplay. Between myself and my brother we got some footage and I will be getting a video together as soon as my mac arrives. Not a massive post, but I thought id share this experience with you.
